Warning: really goofy secret message type philosophy of dream meanings alert. There, now I can't be held liable for the many forthcoming "Huh? What the H#%@ is he writing now?"
I had kind of a "spooky" moment today while reading. Something reminded me of a story my Grandfather ('Member him?...two posts down), used to tell.
He had gone out to tend a trapline and after traversing the line, decided to take a nap before heading the ten or so miles back home. He settled under a pine bough and was soon fast asleep.
He awoke with a start from an extremely vivid Dream. In his Dream,(he never had lower case dreams), he had been lying with the lady of a friend in a foggy clearing. He glanced away and she was suddenly gone and he was visited by a Spirit. Difficult to see, hovering above his prone body.
Long faced with the color of fallen timber, it reached for him as he tried to rise and forced him back down. He fought to get up, but it's inexorable strength held him firm, pressing the breath out of his lungs.
He finally surrendered to it's strength, relaxing and accepting whatever fate it might bring. Then, just as suddenly as it arrived, it was gone and he awoke.
What did it mean? The woman was a dilemma that his mind was wrestling with, the focus of his desire. She didn't necessarily represent the actual friend's lady, just something that he desired consciously. His subconscious told him that this desire was dangerous.
The Spirit was the Wolf Totem, sent to him by a friend to help him fight through his dilemma and see truth. Though his conscious mind fought desperately to escape and take the object of his desire, his subconscious prevailed and he surrendered.
Only then was he able to receive the teachings of the Wolf Spirit. Lessons that were in him all along, but that he refused to see. He explained that when the Wolf Spirit comes to you in a Dream, it means that you are troubled and torn between following a "desire" and doing what is truly "right" for you.
Don't fight the Spirit Wolf. Relax and you will know the answer to whatever troubles you. Give up Anger. It rots the soul. Take time. Enjoy the view from the path you're on. What it is that you desire will still be there tomorrow if you just......let......it.....be.
All righty then. End of super secret message type philosophy lesson.
Back in a bit, gotta get the She cub from work.
Howl before you hunt.
