Great Track and Field.....

I was Head Coach of the local Youth Track and Field team here. It was a Lot of work, but moment "like" this made it all worth while.

My kids all learned great life lessons from their own struggles in the sport. I learned a lot about the human condition and the drive for success that we see in athletes.

The Insidious Facebook.......

All of my 'Conservative" and Vocal friends.....

You should seriously follow this link.

Facebook ain't 'private" by any means.

This is more insidious, and thus paranoia inducing than the now laughed out of town "Attack Watch" If you have ever mentioned the iWon in your postings, well just watch your back as they would say.

HERE!!!

FB is a left leaning organization, and that's fine by me, but this just pisses me off. iWon and his cronies are not on my Friends list.

Why is FB giving them access to accounts, and solely for when they mention the iWon?

I sure wish that facebook.com/WhiteHouse had a really BIG Dislike button!

Oh Horry Clap.......

I Fart in your general direction!!!

Marine Corp Times is reporting that Marines serving in Afghanistan have been banned from “audible farting” because the act is considered offensive among the locals.

Seems to me like “audible farting” is one of those things that is considered offensive among all locals everywhere, but what do I know.

Or at the very least, a competitive sport amongst some.......

From Battle Rattle:

"So, for all Marines getting ready to go downwind, I mean downrange, be forewarned — you may have to hold it in… at least until you get back to your hooch where you can loudly crop dust your friends."

The story is HERE

Terrorists?

.... I know, I've been neglecting you Folks.

I've been suffering the same malaise as Billy Joel..... Well, ok, no where near the talent, but the thought is that when He was miserable.... his song writing was at it's peak.

I was blogging my thoughts and feelings evry day, multiple times.

Now, I get home from work, M'Lady meets me at the door with a "Hi Boo'ful!!"...and all is right with the world.

...But "All" is not right. And I mean with the World. My little niche is fine and dandy, but the rest of it?

I think I'll rant political for a while, and see if it works....

What in the Hell is this PSA from Homeland Security, and where in the Hell is the Backlash?

The Department of Homeland Security has released yet another PSA that depicts an attempt to bomb a subway station not by Al-Qaeda Muslims, but well-dressed white people.

“The DHS video goes out of its way to avoid showing any terrorist who fits the profile of the actual terrorists who have been waging war on us for more than a decade: Young men primarily from the Middle East. Instead, it tends to show them as middle aged white men."

Watch it, tell me what you think.....me...well I'm a bit pissed off. It's useless at the very least.....ugh.

Now, follow the Link to really get you going..... INFOWARS

I am so tired of this crap. Political Correctness is dangerous in the extreme.

This is my House......

..... you see, M'Lady Dragn is a Band Director and a 'Rocker'......

Bert feared his wife Peg wasn’t hearing as well as she used to and he thought she might need a hearing aid.

Not quite sure how to approach her, he called the family doctor to discuss the problem.

The doctor told him there is a simple informal test the husband could perform to give the doctor a better idea about her hearing loss.

‘Here’s what you do,’ said the doctor, ‘stand about 40 feet away from her, and in a normal conversational speaking tone see if she hears you. If not, go to 30 feet, then 20 feet, and so on until you get a response.’

That evening, the wife is in the kitchen cooking dinner, and he was In the den. He says to himself, ‘I’m about 40 feet away, let’s see what happens. ‘ Then in a normal tone he asks, ‘Honey, what’s for dinner?’

No response..

So the husband moves closer to the kitchen, about 30 feet from his wife and repeats, ‘Peg, what’s for dinner?’

Still no response.

Next he moves into the dining room where he is about 20 feet from his wife and asks, ‘Honey, what’s for dinner?’

Again he gets no response.

So, he walks up to the kitchen door, about 10 feet away. ‘Honey, what’s for dinner?’

Again there is no response.

So he walks right up behind her. ‘Peg, what’s for dinner?’

‘For God’s sake, Bert, for the FIFTH time, CHICKEN!’

Chris Muir----- Day by Day......

.....Is most Definitely one of Wollf's FAVEs.

That would be why it's linked 'day by day' over in the right sidebar.

Funny, Sad, and downright to the point, it is.

Chris does this for a living, and the Characters that so many of us identify with and care for, survive at the mercy of our donations.

So...... follow the Linkie thingie, and donate. As my Dear Innertoobs Friend Rose says, "It's cheaper than a subscription to TIME Magazine".

If I could just get him to draw "Zed" with the goatee sans moustache and sideburns, I'd finally have a Cartoon Doppleganger.....srsly!

Keep 'em coming Mr. Muir, you are So appreciated!

Open Carry in Oceanside......

.........home of Camp Pendleton USMC Base......

Remember, in California, we the Citizenry have the Right to open carry..... Unloaded weapons. Clip in, but empty and nothing in the receiver.

The Police, on the other hand, have the Right to inspect our weapon for conformance with an unloaded condition.

I think the Officer was outstanding.

I think that 'Jeremy' was well within his Rights.

I also think 'Jeremy' is a Douche.

So we have that.

How many Lawyers does it take......

..... to screw in a light bulb?

Sent to me via e-mail......

Such number as may be deemed to perform the stated task in a timely and efficient manner within the strictures of the following agreement: Whereas the party of the first part, also known as "The Lawyer", and the party of the second part, also known as "The Light Bulb", do hereby and forthwith agree to a transaction wherein the Light Bulb shall be removed from the current position as a result of failure to perform previously agreed upon duties, i.e., the lighting and otherwise illumination of the area ranging from the front door, through the entry way.

The aforementioned removal transaction shall include, but not be limited to, the following steps:

1.) The party of the first part (Lawyer) shall, with or without elevation at his option, by means of a chair, stepstool, ladder or any other means of elevation, rotate the party of the second part (Light Bulb) in a counter-clockwise direction, said direction being non-negotiable. Said rotation of the party of the second part (Light Bulb) shall be undertaken by the party of the first part (Lawyer) with every possible caution by the party of the first part (Lawyer) to maintain the structural integrity of the party of the second part (Light Bulb), notwithstanding the afore-mentioned failure of the party of the second part (Light Bulb) to perform the aforementioned customary and agreed upon duties. The foregoing notwithstanding, however, both parties agree that structural failure of the party of the second part (Light Bulb) may be incidental to the aforementioned failure to perform and in such case the party of the first part (Lawyer) shall be held blameless for such structural failure as long as this agreement is concerned so long as the non-negotiable rotation (counter-clockwise) is observed by the party of the first part (Lawyer) throughout.

2.) Upon reaching a point where the party of the second part (Light Bulb) becomes separated from the party of the third part ("Receptacle"), the party of the first part (Lawyer) shall have the option of disposing of the party of the second part (Light Bulb) in a manner consistent with all applicable state, local and federal statutes.

3.) Once separation and disposal have been achieved, the party of the first part (Lawyer) shall have the option of beginning installation of the party of the fourth part("New Light Bulb"). This installation shall occur in a manner consistent with the reverse of the procedures described in step one of this self- same document, being careful to note that the rotation should occur in a clockwise direction, said direction also being non-negotiable.

NOTE: The above described steps may be performed, at the option of the party of the first part (Lawyer), by said party of the first part (Lawyer), by his heirs and assigns, or by any and all persons authorized by him to do so, the objective being to produce a level of illumination in the immediate vicinity of the aforementioned front door consistent with maximization of ingress and revenue for the party of the fifth part, also known as "The Firm".

I'm Baaaaaack!

.....with ONE more, really, only one....more pleading for fundraising for Valour IT.

I was wrong in calling out some very fine Folks in the last VIT posting. Everybody who even participated, via Monies, Blogging, Prayers or Support deserves my utmost respect.... and I am s......orrrry.

....So, darn it, we are $402 away from meeting the Marine Team Goal of $25k.....

Would you give a little more? Then, I promise that I'll shut the hell up. We can do it.

I do want all you Great Folks to know that I appreciate your efforts. Sometimes, well, I was raised by the Sar'Major, I'm a bit on the USMC born and Bred....Direct side.

If you still have a little bit, please donate. Let's get this thing over the Marine Goal of $25k.......

Love you Folks! Go.......
HERE...USMC TEAM

UPDATE:
.....as of 2000hrs this day, the Marine Team has exceeded their goal and are at $25,137.00.

Most Excellent my Friends..... Yes, I can be an overbearing Pr$%k, at times.

I am Sooooo proud of you Folks... I will sleep well knowing that Fine People like you are out there.

Thank you!!!!
Thanks again, and Semper Fi
Wollf

Valour IT is done for this go 'round.....

............and *Phew*....

It was well worth the effort. Having a FULL time job, and Four Teenage Men in the house, and of course, M'Lady Dragn and all the Menagerie, made it a bit more difficult for me than I thought.

But.... Bottom line is that this Summer's fundraiser brought $83,137.00 to the Cause. Reminder to all who stray here, the "Cause" is:

“Project Valour-IT changes lives,” says Soldiers’ Angels founder Patti Patton-Bader. “Wounded heroes report that being able to use a laptop helps them feel whole again. Physical therapists are actually designing therapy sessions around Wii Sports! And something as normal as a handheld GPS reduces stress and helps a hero cope. It’s just amazing what this project does!"

Ok, so a huge Thank You to all who gave, supported, Blogged or Prayed for the Cause this year.

Now, we will resume our irregularly unscheduled, ADD inspired Drivel. Someone say "Squirrel"!

Thoughts that have been bouncing around in my head these last few weeks of no Outlet:

Casey Anthony, although found Not Guilty by a Jury of her Peers, (Other, uneducated, Trailer Trash), should go have her tubes tied.

^^Sepsis is not always a bad thing.

Our Country is governed by the same sort of people who make up HOA's.

If California splits into two States, why can't my County of Ventura be part of the "Good" one?

Ok, sorry, I gotta go to work..... I'm there at 0630.

But first an Update on what's happening from Chuck: "About 6,000 have been given out. Cost depends on the best deal we can find and what the individual recipient needs--ranges from about $600-$800. Over 136 are waiting for laptops."

Project Valour-IT

In memory of SFC William V. Ziegenfuss

It was the first time I felt whole since I’d woken up wounded in Landstuhl.
–Major Charles "Chuck" Ziegenfuss, on using a voice-controlled laptop

Project Valour-IT, in memory of SFC William V. Ziegenfuss, helps provide voice-controlled/adaptive laptop computers and other technology to support Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines recovering from hand wounds and other severe injuries.

The experience of Major Chuck Ziegenfuss (pictured), a partner in the project who suffered serious hand wounds while serving in Iraq, led to the creation of this program that has used voice-controlled laptops to the support recovery and reintegration of thousands of wounded troops since 2005. [more pics]

Last night, during my weekly visits, I was greeted by...our latest laptop recipient, with a quick little dance. I think he even clicked his heels! He is so terribly happy to have received a laptop and is really looking forward to having Joe show him all the in's and outs. You made this Sergeant-Major, who has served faithfully for 40 years and is as crusty as they come, do a happy dance in the lobby - PRICELESS! - Soldiers' Angel Monica, November 2009

"...It is comforting to know there are people who care so much. After a year of surgeries, treatment and therapy, it can be discouraging. Although I am a trained attorney, due to TBI, it is unclear what my future will be. The computer will help with my therapy and my transition back to civilian work." – Captain V, U.S. Army Reserves

I work at the Men's and Women's Trauma Recovery Program at The Menlo Park VA. Our program's mission is to serve military men and women who are suffering from the symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. On behalf of our entire program, I want to personally thank you for donating the WII Fit. The Wii gaming system offers opportunities for our patients to actively interact with one another, which is different from other gaming systems. For example four people can actually play tennis or baseball, which helps them engage with one another, and reduce isolation. The Wii fit will allow our patients to actively exercise with others and gives them another avenue to engage in healthy habits. With your donation, you are working with us to help support each person's recovery and building the foundation for a better quality of life for our veterans and active duty service members. - Melissa Puckett, Recreation Therapist/Supervisor, January 2009

He received it yesterday, fully loaded with a receipt from Best Buy. He was extremely pleased and could not believe that it is brand new with all the bells and whistles – he actually started crying and thanked us over and over. - Bobby Hayden, OEF/OIF Patient Services Advocate

January 18th, 2006

Dear Mrs. Smith,

It was brought to my attention that your organization, Soldier's Angels, did something very special for the Marines of our Injured Support Battalion. I want to take this time and thank you so much for your contribution to make special memories for those who sacrifice so much.

Your contribution of laptops is quite above and beyond. I am grateful that you have taken time to honor our injured heroes.

I remain...

[Partial funding for this project was provided by the Texas Resources for Iraq-Afghanistan Deployment (TRIAD) fund of the San Antonio Area Foundation. For more than 40 years, the San Antonio Area Foundation, a publicly supported philanthropic institution, has been administering donors’ funds and granting gifts from those funds to worthy charitable causes that significantly enhance the quality of life in the communities they serve.]

The Sergeant Major.....

A crusty old Sergeant Major found himself at a gala event hosted by a local liberal arts college.

There was no shortage of extremely young, idealistic ladies in attendance, one of whom approached the Sergeant Major for conversation.

She said, "Excuse me, Sergeant Major, but you seem to be a very serious man. Is something bothering you?"

"Negative, ma'am," the Sergeant Major said, "Just serious by nature."

The young lady looked at his awards and decorations and said, "It looks like you have seen a lot of action."

The Sergeant Major's short reply was, "Yes, ma'am, a lot of action."

The young lady, tiring of trying to start up a conversation, said, "You know, you should lighten up a little. Relax and enjoy yourself."

The Sergeant Major just stared at her in his serious manner.

Finally the young lady said, "You know, I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but when is the last time you had sex?"

The Sergeant Major looked at her and replied, "2000."

The young lady said, "Well, there you are. You really need to chill out and quit taking everything so seriously! I mean, no sex since 2000!

She took his hand and led him to a private room where she proceeded to "relax" him several times.

Afterwards, and panting for breath, she leaned against his bare chest and said, "Wow, you sure didn't forget much since 2000!"

The Sergeant Major, glancing at his watch, said in his matter-of-fact voice, "I hope not, it's only 2130 now."

........Ba Dump.

Come on, it's Sunday for cryin' out loud.

UPDATE: Kate has something motivational to say, "Embracing the Suck: mil-speak for ‘The situation is bad, but deal with it’ – is something the Marines are exceptionally good at. From Iwo Jima to Fallujah and Anbar Province to the Helmand River Valley in Afghanistan, the Marines have always been America’s 911 Force and the “First to Fight” for us."

GO SAY HI

EL PASO, Texas – Comrades helping out one of their own -- it also happens beyond the battlefield.

Members of the United States Army 1st Brigade 2nd Armored Division of Fort Bliss and United States Marine Corps students – who claim to be military branch rivals -- joined forces to help build a new wheelchair-accessible home for disabled veteran Cpl. Daniel Gasca and his family.

The Homes for Our Troops program, which builds adapted homes for disabled veterans, organized and financed the build.

“It’s not every day that you can help out a brother, a fellow Marine, a devil dog, but it feels good to actually have that chance today, and knowing that I’m a part of it, I can take a lot from this experience,” said Pvt. Christian Marten, a student in the U.S. Marine Corps.

First Day..........

"I work at the Men's and Women's Trauma Recovery Program at The Menlo Park VA. With your donation, you are working with us to help support each person's recovery and building the foundation for a better quality of life for our veterans and active duty service members." - Melissa Puckett, Recreation Therapist/Supervisor, January 2009

Social Media Powers Laptops and More for Wounded Troops
Soldiers’ Angels Project Valour-IT Conducts Online Fundraising Competition
Pasadena, CA (June 28, 2011) – As the number of American Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines suffering battlefield wounds continues to grow, today’s economic challenges continue to squeeze military support nonprofits. Soldiers’ Angels Project Valour-IT—which has supplied over 6,000 severely wounded Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines with adaptive laptops and other devices to aid their recovery and reintegration—is addressing that squeeze with a fundraising technique it pioneered: online competition.

Held July 1-14, the Valour-IT fundraising competition will draw on blogging, Facebook, Twitter and other social media to raise money and awareness for the needs of wounded troops. Divided among four “virtual teams” named in honor of U.S. military service branches, participants will also use flyers, word-of-mouth and traditional media outlets to spread the word.

The goal is to raise at least $100,000, which will meet increased demand for Valour-IT services through October 2011.
It’s just amazing what this project does!”
Each of the devices Valour-IT supplies helps restore confidence and independence for a wounded hero. Voice-activated laptops reconnect the wounded with the world and develop self-confidence by showing soldiers they can continue to be engaged and productive despite their injuries. Servicemembers also use the laptops to research their medical care or prepare for a post-military career. Physical therapists report Wii Sports is extremely motivational and beneficial when used in physical therapy settings, and wounded personnel with short-term memory loss due to TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) and severe PTSD use GPS systems to keep from getting lost or disoriented when they move on to more independent living.
For more information about the fundraising competition, email campaign@soldiersangels.org or visit www.soldiersangels.org to donate.

All funds raised go directly to wounded troops with no overhead costs removed, and requests for support are vetted through case managers.

I awakened in quite the good mood today. It's Dragn's 44 year young Birfday. I have the Card, the Present, ordered the cake, the Cubs are at the Lair.......

Happy Happy Birfday!

Then I get a call from my Little Baby Brother. Our Dad, the Sar'Major in earlier posts, moved on to his Final Destination. Don't feel to bad for him.....89 years is a good run on this earthly realm.

But the juxtaposition is tough....... really tough.

Son of a bitch.

Crime of the Century!!!!

Guerrilla camper re-opens shuttered Michigan public campsite

Persons unknown recently re-opened Michigan's West Branch State Forest Campground, mowing sites, moving the boulders that blocked the entrance and breaking into the bathrooms.

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources speculates on the guerrilla camper's motivations, suggesting that s/he was either just eager to camp, or wanted to protest the planned closure of more Michigan campsites.

But recently, perhaps over the Memorial Day weekend, someone illegally re-opened the campground.

Grass at two of the campsites had been mowed, as well as along a short path toward the river. The campsites are nearest restrooms, which had their door handles and locks broken away.

Campsites numbers 15 and 16 were mowed and are situated across a dirt roadway from each other. Tracks from a truck and a passenger car were still visible in the sand at one of the sites Saturday.

I'm now looking forward to closures in my SoCal area........

Oh......they mowed the grass? How cool is that?

A More Serious Posting......

.......I get so much via E-mail.....this one actually hits my current, unspoken concerns.....

Here's an except from an interesting article. I wanted to give everybody something to worry about other than the claim that the world is coming to an end next week. Wollf......

"The United States is rapidly becoming the very first "post-industrial"
nation on the globe. All great economic empires eventually become fat
and lazy and squander the great wealth that their forefathers have
left them, but the pace at which America is accomplishing this is
absolutely amazing. It was America that was at the forefront of the
industrial revolution. It was America that showed the world how to
mass produce everything from automobiles to televisions to airplanes.
It was the great American manufacturing base that crushed Germany and
Japan in World War II.

But now we are witnessing the deindustrialization of America . Tens
of thousands of factories have left the United States in the past
decade alone. Millions upon millions of manufacturing jobs have been
lost in the same time period. The United States has become a nation
that consumes everything in sight and yet produces increasingly
little. Do you know what our biggest export is today? Waste paper.
Yes, trash is the number one thing that we ship out to the rest of the
world as we voraciously blow our money on whatever the rest of the
world wants to sell to us. The United States has become bloated and
spoiled and our economy is now just a shadow of what it once was.
Once upon a time America could literally out produce the rest of the
world combined. Today that is no longer true, but Americans sure do
consume more than anyone else in the world. If the
deindustrialization of America continues at this current pace, what
possible kind of a future are we going to be leaving to our children?

Any great nation throughout history has been great at making things.
So if the United States continues to allow its manufacturing base to
erode at a staggering pace how in the world can the U.S. continue to
consider itself to be a great nation? We have created the biggest
debt bubble in the history of the world in an effort to maintain a
very high standard of living, but the current state of affairs is not
anywhere close to sustainable. Every single month America goes into
more debt and every single month America gets poorer.

So what happens when the debt bubble pops? The deindustrialization of
the United States should be a top concern for every man, woman and
child in the country. But sadly, most Americans do not have any idea
what is going on around them. For people like that, take this article
and print it out and hand it to them. Perhaps what they will read
below will shock them badly enough to awaken them from their slumber.

The following are 19 facts about the deindustrialization of America
that will blow your mind....

#1 The United States has lost approximately 42,400 factories since
2001. About 75 percent of those factories employed over 500 people
when they were still in operation.

#2 Dell Inc., one of America 's largest manufacturers of computers,
has announced plans to dramatically expand its operations in China
with an investment of over $100 billion over the next decade.

#3 Dell has announced that it will be closing its last large U.S.
manufacturing facility in Winston-Salem , North Carolina in November.
Approximately 900 jobs will be lost.

#4 In 2008, 1.2 billion cell phones were sold worldwide. So how many
of them were manufactured inside the United States ? Zero.

#5 According to a new study conducted by the Economic Policy
Institute, if the U.S. trade deficit with China continues to increase
at its current rate, the U.S. economy will lose over half a million
jobs this year alone.

#6 As of the end of July, the U.S. trade deficit with China had risen
18 percent compared to the same time period a year ago.

#7 The United States has lost a total of about 5.5 million
manufacturing jobs since October 2000.

#8 According to Tax Notes, between 1999 and 2008 employment at the
foreign affiliates of U.S. parent companies increased an astounding 30
percent to 10.1 million. During that exact same time period, U.S.
employment at American multinational corporations declined 8 percent
to 21.1 million.

#9 In 1959, manufacturing represented 28 percent of U.S. economic
output. In 2008, it represented 11.5 percent.

#10 Ford Motor Company recently announced the closure of a factory
that produces the Ford Ranger in St. Paul , Minnesota . Approximately
750 good paying middle class jobs are going to be lost because making
Ford Rangers in Minnesota does not fit in with Ford's new "global"
manufacturing strategy.

#11 As of the end of 2009, less than 12 million Americans worked in
manufacturing. The last time less than 12 million Americans were
employed in manufacturing was in 1941.

#12 In the United States today, consumption accounts for 70 percent of
GDP. Of this 70 percent, over half is spent on services.

#13 The United States has lost a whopping 32 percent of its
manufacturing jobs since the year 2000.

#14 In 2001, the United States ranked fourth in the world in per
capita broadband Internet use. Today it ranks 15th.

#15 Manufacturing employment in the U.S. computer industry is actually
lower in 2010 than it was in 1975.

#16 Printed circuit boards are used in tens of thousands of different
products. Asia now produces 84 percent of them worldwide.

#17 The United States spends approximately $3.90 on Chinese goods for
every $1 that the Chinese spend on goods from the United States .

#18 One prominent economist is projecting that the Chinese economy
will be three times larger than the U.S. economy by the year 2040.

#19 The U.S. Census Bureau says that 43.6 million Americans are now
living in poverty and according to them that is the highest number of
poor Americans in the 51 years that records have been kept.

So how many tens of thousands more factories do we need to lose before
we do something about it? How many millions more Americans are going
to become unemployed before we all admit that we have a very, very
serious problem on our hands?

How many more trillions of dollars are going to leave the country
before we realize that we are losing wealth at a pace that is killing
our economy?

How many once great manufacturing cities are going to become rotting
war zones like Detroit before we understand that we are committing
national economic suicide?

The deindustrialization of America is a national crisis. It needs to
be treated like one.

By the way, if...I mean IF, those dear folks that think they know when the End of Times is nigh are right...... disallow the aforementioned script.

Those of us who will arise, don't have to worry.

Mother's Day.....and thoughts......

My Mom...... never allowed me to call her 'Mother', has been in Heaven for 'bout two years.

My Dad, the Sar' Major....well, he's not doing so well. He's at about Ninety years old, and misses the absolute Love of his life.... her name is Barbara Pinkham Stevenson......

Thiers was a Love story for the ages.... I've had some sort of mote in my eye all day, and for some reason, well, my eyes seem to be leaking....

It's Mother's Day, my Mom is gone, and the Sar' Major is in the VA Hospital.....He doesn't want to be on this earth without his Bride..... and I can't fault that.

They met at a WWII street dance in Washington DC...... Remember that iconic photo of the Sailor kissing the young Lady?

Well, it started something like that, when a rather robust Marine Sergeant stepped in and claimed in no uncertain words, "EXCUSE Me, you are kissing my Wife.... Beat Feet!"

The Sailor, faced with an obviously agitated 'husband', did so.......

Then, the Woman who was to become my Mom, said to the Marine, "Why did you say that you were my Husband?"

He replied quite simply, "Well, Ma'am, I am going to marry you.."

And.....well, they did...and sixty years later.... I and my Baby Bro', Big Brother Mike and 2 sisters came into this world.....

Mom worked at the Pentagon all through the War, Dad was busy staying alive and helping the Japanese Army to meet their Maker........

The Sar' Major is horridly ill right now..... Prayers for his Peace would be highly appreciated....

Mom, I Love you, and give your photo a finger kiss every time I pass it. Dad....you know how I feel......

Love your Parents and let them know... you won't have them forever.

The Sar'Major and his Bride, in better times, when She was here.....

I gotta go now, got something in my eye.....

Surely in a war where the Taliban are difficult to find, don’t you think we’d want all of his supporters to go to one place........................

Easter Services....and a little story.....

......Anybody out there know what I do for a living?

Well, and I know I'm not s'posed to give knowledge unrelated to Blogging.... I am a Division Manager for one of the most highly respected Electrical Contractors here in California.......

Part of my duties is the semi-official, humorous Title of Official Company Catholic.

Which, basically means, that since my one and only Boss, the owner of this 60+ million dollar a year company, is a Devout Catholic........

I pretty much take care of the Los Angeles Diocese Churches in the Ventura area, maintenance, festivals, and fund raising......

These last two week, I have had a crew working at San Buenaventura Mission, repairing lights in the main Mission, and 'attempting' to fix the 1957 era electrically operated Bell system.

Fr. Mike and Fr. Tom are great guys.......and they REALLY wanted the Bells to ring from the Mission.....but alas, even after rebuilding the darn 'gonger', "No Ringgie the Bells"...

One of my Men, Mark, went to Fr. Mike and volunteered to manually ring the Bells for Easter Sunday!

He'll be up in the Bell Tower, circa 1782, playing a modern day Quasimodo, all for The Glory of God. (with OSHA approved hearing protection of course)........

May that you who pray, put a word upstairs for this young Man. He's going to make a lot of People attending Easter Services happy.....not to mention the fact that if Angels really do sing, they'll do it loudly.

A Blessed Easter to all.

As the Founder of this last of the Missions woud say.....“ Siempre Adelante”

Always Forward.

Good Friday AND Earth Day.......

....Personally, I'll celebrate Good Friday, , because my thoughts on "saving the planet" rather mirror the prologue to Jurassic Park...

As read by Charlton Heston.....

And here's the prose.......

"You think man can destroy the planet? What intoxicating vanity. Let me tell you about our planet. Earth is four-and-a-half-billion-years-old. There’s been life on it for nearly that long, 3.8 billion years. Bacteria first; later the first multicellular life, then the first complex creatures in the sea, on the land. Then finally the great sweeping ages of animals, the amphibians, the dinosaurs, at last the mammals, each one enduring millions on millions of years, great dynasties of creatures rising, flourishing, dying away — all this against a background of continuous and violent upheaval. Mountain ranges thrust up, eroded away, cometary impacts, volcano eruptions, oceans rising and falling, whole continents moving, an endless, constant, violent change, colliding, buckling to make mountains over millions of years. Earth has survived everything in its time. It will certainly survive us. If all the nuclear weapons in the world went off at once and all the plants, all the animals died and the earth was sizzling hot for a hundred thousand years, life would survive, somewhere: under the soil, frozen in Arctic ice. Sooner or later, when the planet was no longer inhospitable, life would spread again. The evolutionary process would begin again. It might take a few billion years for life to regain its present variety. Of course, it would be very different from what it is now, but the earth would survive our folly, only we would not. If the ozone layer gets thinner, ultraviolet radiation sears the earth, so what? Ultraviolet radiation is good for life. It’s powerful energy. It promotes mutation, change. Many forms of life will thrive with more UV radiation. Many others will die out. Do you think this is the first time that’s happened? Think about oxygen. Necessary for life now, but oxygen is actually a metabolic poison, a corrosive gas, like fluorine. When oxygen was first produced as a waste product by certain plant cells some three billion years ago, it created a crisis for all other life on earth. Those plants were polluting the environment, exhaling a lethal gas. Earth eventually had an atmosphere incompatible with life. Nevertheless, life on earth took care of itself. In the thinking of the human being a hundred years is a long time. A hundred years ago we didn’t have cars, airplanes, computers or vaccines. It was a whole different world, but to the earth, a hundred years is nothing. A million years is nothing. This planet lives and breathes on a much vaster scale. We can’t imagine its slow and powerful rhythms, and we haven’t got the humility to try. We’ve been residents here for the blink of an eye. If we’re gone tomorrow, the earth will not miss us."

MUAR.........

.....That's Maximum Utilization of Available Resources.......

My Wife and Love, 'Dragn', is in Mexico.....Baja, about 30 miles North of Ensenada, with a Church Group.....

Working to upgrade an Orphanage that the Church supports...... Did I tell you that She is the most Caring, Empathetic Woman that I've ever known?

Yup, probably.

She'll be back Wednesday coming up.

I have noted a few things, having been single after the 2nd Xwife for a bit of time....

Gentlemen, I am trying to remember and assimilate my Survival Training, SERE included, live off the land sorta thing....

I've learned a few things.....

1) Dinner does NOT appear magically on the table every night.

2) That flat, drop down white thing in the kitchen..... that's where the clean dishes are. Somebody has to put them away. They don't get to the cupboard by themselves....

3) Washing machines are infathomable to the Male mind. Oh, and DO NOT wash your tee shirts, or HER white stuff with the towels......Red and White.....NOT good. (I'm heading to the Depeartment store, girlie stuff in hand to match and replace.....

4) She is RIGHT, just remember that. Labrador, chihuahua, two Kittehs and a Saint Bernard on the bed at the same time.....well, let's just say......Bad idea......no stitches this time, but seriously....don't do it.

5) Corn dogs....my staple for the last few days, well, they go in the refrigerator, not the pantry....2 days, and they are still 'edible', but...... yannow?

6) Beds do not make themselves.....and it's difficult with the aforementioned beasts playing tag upon it.

7) Roombas are a Good idea, but remember to put the Saint Bernard outside first....Seriously.

8) Peanut Butter is G-d's gift to the Singlish Man....thanks my Mom in Law for that info....reminds me, I have to get Bread.

9) Do NOT.......EVER...... put off putting the 130# Saint Bernard outside in the morning because you would like to sleep in on Sunday till 0800. The call of Nature is irresistable.
G-d bless "Brawny" towels...... well and a couple bath towels, gotta remember to separate the colors.

10) Appreciate your Wife.

I miss her, gotta go now, take Mongo....that's the Saint, to an obedience class that Dragn does......Whoo doggie.

Wish me luck.

I'll update this situation, hopefully on a daily basis, gotta get back to writing....Valor IT is coming up in early July, and it would be nice to have a reader or two........

Oh.....did I tell you that Mongo "poops" as big as the little doogen IS?

Love you guys, Pray for Dragn.....and me.

Here's something to cook your shorts.......

Via e-mail, and I checked it out........wow am I pi$$ed....

Read this and then click on the link below.

Very interesting. I had heard about this, but had not really checked up on it.

Subject: Super P.O.ed

This really really REALLY ticks me off! Our country is not SINKING, It is being SCUTTLED by what are supposed to be out leaders. This is insane!

NO JOKE
This is unbelievable !!
Just when you think you've heard it all, our illustrious Congress quietly comes up with a new zinger to put their hands in your pockets, and pick them while you aren't watching. Isn't this just wonderful?

I was standing in line at the checkout counter at Wal-Mart and as I looked at the line behind me, I saw a couple of people talking about what looked like identical new cell phones, bragging about the fact that their phones were free and so was the airtime.

The woman in line behind me had heard the same exchange and turned to the young man behind her and asked, 'Is that a new type of cell phone?'

The young man replied, 'Yes, this is my new Obama phone. She asked him what an Obama phone was, and he went on to say that, 'Welfare recipients are now eligible to receive what he described as (1) a FREE new cell phone, and (2) approximately 70 FREE minutes of air time every month.'

Needless to say, I was a little skeptical about his answer, so when I got back home, I Googled it, and lo and behold, he was telling the truth. This was what I discovered:

SafeLink Wireless is a government supported program that provides a free cell phone and airtime each month for income-eligible customers. In other words, your tax dollars are being distributed to a wireless phone provider to provide welfare recipients with free cell phones and airtime. I don't know about you, but as for me, enough is enough.

We are $14 Trillion in debt, Congress is balking at continuing unemployment payments to those who want to work, and Congress is increasing the dole-out to dead beats.

The ship of State is sinking, and it's sinking fast.

The old concept of getting ahead through hard work has flown out the window.

It has been replaced by Obama's and Congress' idea of Hope and Change.

The country has changed all right, changed to "Why should I work for it, when I can get it for free?"

Well. it seems that between Lovely Dragn, the Spousal Unit, the Cubs, My Cubs, the new puppy Mongo....and attempting to put together a lineup of USMC Team blogs for t he Valor IT fundraiser in July.....I want to have a fresh and relatively interesting story, film, photos, etc, for every day of the month long event.

Somehow, I got volunteered to be 'one' of the National Folks.

Cat Birds, Grackles, Mocking Birds.......

.....I don't care what you call them, they are an obnoxious, territorial beastie.

Constantly dive bombing and annoying the cats and dogs, seemingly invincible.

Sometimes, the story has a happy ending.

Alert Issued After Security Incident On Camp Pendleton

.....as in the San Diego USMC Base.....hmmm... Not April Fools

One of the nation's largest military bases is reportedly under tighter security after three Middle Eastern men tried to enter without proper authorization.

The three men -- 40-year-old Afghani Ahmad Rahmani Naeem, 41-year-old Iranian Vahik Petrossian and 27-year-old Iranian Sengekdi Norvik Avanosian -- attempted to get into Camp Pendleton last weekend under what was considered suspicious circumstances.

And not once, in one vehicle, but twice.... using the old "I got Lost" excuse.

You have got to read the whole thing.

HERE

Nice looking boys, huh?

Interesting aside is that it seems to me that those "sian" ending names are Armenian, not Iranian, which I suppose would explain their "Looking for Glendale" excuse?

I also suppose it made more sense than saying they were lost and looking for Dearborn Michigan.

But..... Not to worry, even though the Base has gone BOLO, nothing to look at here, move along, whistle in the dark.

Couldn't possibly be a dry run, test of security or such.

*And yes, I am an Islamaphobe, especially when it comes to such behavior as this*

Now, scroll back up and read the whole report from the linkie thingie.....
Be safe,

Another bit of fun.........

......So, here's the back story:

Texas feller has a pig farm, been in his Family for generations......

Muslim feller, up and buys the next door property for reasons of building a mosque and an Islamic center.....

With me so far?

All is well and good, even up to the point where mMuslim feller tells Texas farmer that he needs to either sell his farm, or.......you guessed, stop raising pigs....

Still well and good, until, in a Town Hall meeting, in front of a hundred of his neighbors.......Calls this good old Texas boy.....a LIAR.

Hilarity ensues.....srsly. Watch for yourself......

Makes me want some bacon.

The Debutante Ball.........

The Debutante Ball
A US Navy cruiser anchored in Mississippi for a week's shore leave. The first evening, the ship's Captain received the following note from the wife of a wealthy plantation owner:

"Dear Captain, Thursday will be my daughter Melinda's Debutante Ball. I would like you to send four well-mannered, handsome, unmarried officers in their formal dress uniforms to attend the dance. They should arrive promptly at 8:00 PM prepared for an evening of polite Southern conversation. They should be excellent dancers, as they will be the escorts of lovely refined young ladies. One last point, and this is very important: Please, absolutely no Jews."

Sending a written message by his own yeoman, the captain replied:

"Madam, thank you for your invitation. In order to present the widest possible knowledge base for polite conversation, I am sending four of my best and most prized officers. One is a lieutenant commander, and a graduate of Annapolis with an additional Masters degree from MIT in fluid technologies and ship design. The second is a Lieutenant, one of our helicopter pilots, and a graduate of Northwestern University in Chicago , with a BS in Aeronautical Engineering. His Masters Degree and PhD. In Aeronautical and Mechanical Engineering are from Texas Tech University and he is also an astronaut candidate. The third officer is also a lieutenant, with degrees in both computer systems and information technology from SMU and he is awaiting notification on his Doctoral Dissertation from Cal Tech. Finally, the fourth officer, also a lieutenant commander, is our ship’s doctor, with an undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia and his medical degree is from the University of North Carolina . We are very proud of him, as he is also a senior fellow in Trauma Surgery at Bethesda."
Upon receiving this letter, Melinda’s mother was quite excited and looked forward to Thursday with pleasure. Her daughter would be escorted by four handsome naval officers without peer (and the other women in her social circle would be insanely jealous).

At precisely 8:00 PM on Thursday, Melinda's mother heard a polite rap at the door which she opened to find, in full dress uniform, four handsome, smiling Black officers. Her mouth fell open, but pulling herself together, she stammered, "There must be some mistake."

"No, Madam," said the first officer. "Captain Goldberg never makes mistakes."
