Chris Muir----- Day by Day......

.....Is most Definitely one of Wollf's FAVEs.

That would be why it's linked 'day by day' over in the right sidebar.

Funny, Sad, and downright to the point, it is.

Chris does this for a living, and the Characters that so many of us identify with and care for, survive at the mercy of our donations.

So...... follow the Linkie thingie, and donate. As my Dear Innertoobs Friend Rose says, "It's cheaper than a subscription to TIME Magazine".

If I could just get him to draw "Zed" with the goatee sans moustache and sideburns, I'd finally have a Cartoon Doppleganger.....srsly!

Keep 'em coming Mr. Muir, you are So appreciated!

Open Carry in Oceanside......

.........home of Camp Pendleton USMC Base......

Remember, in California, we the Citizenry have the Right to open carry..... Unloaded weapons. Clip in, but empty and nothing in the receiver.

The Police, on the other hand, have the Right to inspect our weapon for conformance with an unloaded condition.

I think the Officer was outstanding.

I think that 'Jeremy' was well within his Rights.

I also think 'Jeremy' is a Douche.

So we have that.

How many Lawyers does it take......

..... to screw in a light bulb?

Sent to me via e-mail......

Such number as may be deemed to perform the stated task in a timely and efficient manner within the strictures of the following agreement: Whereas the party of the first part, also known as "The Lawyer", and the party of the second part, also known as "The Light Bulb", do hereby and forthwith agree to a transaction wherein the Light Bulb shall be removed from the current position as a result of failure to perform previously agreed upon duties, i.e., the lighting and otherwise illumination of the area ranging from the front door, through the entry way.

The aforementioned removal transaction shall include, but not be limited to, the following steps:

1.) The party of the first part (Lawyer) shall, with or without elevation at his option, by means of a chair, stepstool, ladder or any other means of elevation, rotate the party of the second part (Light Bulb) in a counter-clockwise direction, said direction being non-negotiable. Said rotation of the party of the second part (Light Bulb) shall be undertaken by the party of the first part (Lawyer) with every possible caution by the party of the first part (Lawyer) to maintain the structural integrity of the party of the second part (Light Bulb), notwithstanding the afore-mentioned failure of the party of the second part (Light Bulb) to perform the aforementioned customary and agreed upon duties. The foregoing notwithstanding, however, both parties agree that structural failure of the party of the second part (Light Bulb) may be incidental to the aforementioned failure to perform and in such case the party of the first part (Lawyer) shall be held blameless for such structural failure as long as this agreement is concerned so long as the non-negotiable rotation (counter-clockwise) is observed by the party of the first part (Lawyer) throughout.

2.) Upon reaching a point where the party of the second part (Light Bulb) becomes separated from the party of the third part ("Receptacle"), the party of the first part (Lawyer) shall have the option of disposing of the party of the second part (Light Bulb) in a manner consistent with all applicable state, local and federal statutes.

3.) Once separation and disposal have been achieved, the party of the first part (Lawyer) shall have the option of beginning installation of the party of the fourth part("New Light Bulb"). This installation shall occur in a manner consistent with the reverse of the procedures described in step one of this self- same document, being careful to note that the rotation should occur in a clockwise direction, said direction also being non-negotiable.

NOTE: The above described steps may be performed, at the option of the party of the first part (Lawyer), by said party of the first part (Lawyer), by his heirs and assigns, or by any and all persons authorized by him to do so, the objective being to produce a level of illumination in the immediate vicinity of the aforementioned front door consistent with maximization of ingress and revenue for the party of the fifth part, also known as "The Firm".

I'm Baaaaaack!

.....with ONE more, really, only one....more pleading for fundraising for Valour IT.

I was wrong in calling out some very fine Folks in the last VIT posting. Everybody who even participated, via Monies, Blogging, Prayers or Support deserves my utmost respect.... and I am s......orrrry.

....So, darn it, we are $402 away from meeting the Marine Team Goal of $25k.....

Would you give a little more? Then, I promise that I'll shut the hell up. We can do it.

I do want all you Great Folks to know that I appreciate your efforts. Sometimes, well, I was raised by the Sar'Major, I'm a bit on the USMC born and Bred....Direct side.

If you still have a little bit, please donate. Let's get this thing over the Marine Goal of $25k.......

Love you Folks! Go.......
HERE...USMC TEAM

UPDATE:
.....as of 2000hrs this day, the Marine Team has exceeded their goal and are at $25,137.00.

Most Excellent my Friends..... Yes, I can be an overbearing Pr$%k, at times.

I am Sooooo proud of you Folks... I will sleep well knowing that Fine People like you are out there.

Thank you!!!!
Thanks again, and Semper Fi
Wollf

Valour IT is done for this go 'round.....

............and *Phew*....

It was well worth the effort. Having a FULL time job, and Four Teenage Men in the house, and of course, M'Lady Dragn and all the Menagerie, made it a bit more difficult for me than I thought.

But.... Bottom line is that this Summer's fundraiser brought $83,137.00 to the Cause. Reminder to all who stray here, the "Cause" is:

“Project Valour-IT changes lives,” says Soldiers’ Angels founder Patti Patton-Bader. “Wounded heroes report that being able to use a laptop helps them feel whole again. Physical therapists are actually designing therapy sessions around Wii Sports! And something as normal as a handheld GPS reduces stress and helps a hero cope. It’s just amazing what this project does!"

Ok, so a huge Thank You to all who gave, supported, Blogged or Prayed for the Cause this year.

Now, we will resume our irregularly unscheduled, ADD inspired Drivel. Someone say "Squirrel"!

Thoughts that have been bouncing around in my head these last few weeks of no Outlet:

Casey Anthony, although found Not Guilty by a Jury of her Peers, (Other, uneducated, Trailer Trash), should go have her tubes tied.

^^Sepsis is not always a bad thing.

Our Country is governed by the same sort of people who make up HOA's.

If California splits into two States, why can't my County of Ventura be part of the "Good" one?

Ok, sorry, I gotta go to work..... I'm there at 0630.

But first an Update on what's happening from Chuck: "About 6,000 have been given out. Cost depends on the best deal we can find and what the individual recipient needs--ranges from about $600-$800. Over 136 are waiting for laptops."

Project Valour-IT

In memory of SFC William V. Ziegenfuss

It was the first time I felt whole since I’d woken up wounded in Landstuhl.
–Major Charles "Chuck" Ziegenfuss, on using a voice-controlled laptop

Project Valour-IT, in memory of SFC William V. Ziegenfuss, helps provide voice-controlled/adaptive laptop computers and other technology to support Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines recovering from hand wounds and other severe injuries.

The experience of Major Chuck Ziegenfuss (pictured), a partner in the project who suffered serious hand wounds while serving in Iraq, led to the creation of this program that has used voice-controlled laptops to the support recovery and reintegration of thousands of wounded troops since 2005. [more pics]

Last night, during my weekly visits, I was greeted by...our latest laptop recipient, with a quick little dance. I think he even clicked his heels! He is so terribly happy to have received a laptop and is really looking forward to having Joe show him all the in's and outs. You made this Sergeant-Major, who has served faithfully for 40 years and is as crusty as they come, do a happy dance in the lobby - PRICELESS! - Soldiers' Angel Monica, November 2009

"...It is comforting to know there are people who care so much. After a year of surgeries, treatment and therapy, it can be discouraging. Although I am a trained attorney, due to TBI, it is unclear what my future will be. The computer will help with my therapy and my transition back to civilian work." – Captain V, U.S. Army Reserves

I work at the Men's and Women's Trauma Recovery Program at The Menlo Park VA. Our program's mission is to serve military men and women who are suffering from the symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. On behalf of our entire program, I want to personally thank you for donating the WII Fit. The Wii gaming system offers opportunities for our patients to actively interact with one another, which is different from other gaming systems. For example four people can actually play tennis or baseball, which helps them engage with one another, and reduce isolation. The Wii fit will allow our patients to actively exercise with others and gives them another avenue to engage in healthy habits. With your donation, you are working with us to help support each person's recovery and building the foundation for a better quality of life for our veterans and active duty service members. - Melissa Puckett, Recreation Therapist/Supervisor, January 2009

He received it yesterday, fully loaded with a receipt from Best Buy. He was extremely pleased and could not believe that it is brand new with all the bells and whistles – he actually started crying and thanked us over and over. - Bobby Hayden, OEF/OIF Patient Services Advocate

January 18th, 2006

Dear Mrs. Smith,

It was brought to my attention that your organization, Soldier's Angels, did something very special for the Marines of our Injured Support Battalion. I want to take this time and thank you so much for your contribution to make special memories for those who sacrifice so much.

Your contribution of laptops is quite above and beyond. I am grateful that you have taken time to honor our injured heroes.

I remain...

[Partial funding for this project was provided by the Texas Resources for Iraq-Afghanistan Deployment (TRIAD) fund of the San Antonio Area Foundation. For more than 40 years, the San Antonio Area Foundation, a publicly supported philanthropic institution, has been administering donors’ funds and granting gifts from those funds to worthy charitable causes that significantly enhance the quality of life in the communities they serve.]

The Sergeant Major.....

A crusty old Sergeant Major found himself at a gala event hosted by a local liberal arts college.

There was no shortage of extremely young, idealistic ladies in attendance, one of whom approached the Sergeant Major for conversation.

She said, "Excuse me, Sergeant Major, but you seem to be a very serious man. Is something bothering you?"

"Negative, ma'am," the Sergeant Major said, "Just serious by nature."

The young lady looked at his awards and decorations and said, "It looks like you have seen a lot of action."

The Sergeant Major's short reply was, "Yes, ma'am, a lot of action."

The young lady, tiring of trying to start up a conversation, said, "You know, you should lighten up a little. Relax and enjoy yourself."

The Sergeant Major just stared at her in his serious manner.

Finally the young lady said, "You know, I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but when is the last time you had sex?"

The Sergeant Major looked at her and replied, "2000."

The young lady said, "Well, there you are. You really need to chill out and quit taking everything so seriously! I mean, no sex since 2000!

She took his hand and led him to a private room where she proceeded to "relax" him several times.

Afterwards, and panting for breath, she leaned against his bare chest and said, "Wow, you sure didn't forget much since 2000!"

The Sergeant Major, glancing at his watch, said in his matter-of-fact voice, "I hope not, it's only 2130 now."

........Ba Dump.

Come on, it's Sunday for cryin' out loud.

UPDATE: Kate has something motivational to say, "Embracing the Suck: mil-speak for ‘The situation is bad, but deal with it’ – is something the Marines are exceptionally good at. From Iwo Jima to Fallujah and Anbar Province to the Helmand River Valley in Afghanistan, the Marines have always been America’s 911 Force and the “First to Fight” for us."

GO SAY HI

Don't forget to advise your friends to give to Valour IT.

Proposal of the Day:

Sgt. Scott Moore, who is presently serving his country with 3rd Battalion 2nd Marines in Musa Qala, Afghanistan, would like very much for Mila Kunis to accompany him to the Marine Corps Ball in Greenville, NC, on November 18th.

Mila: If you’d like to go, e-mail Scott at gowithmemila[AT]gmail.com. If you don’t want to go, then you clearly hate America.

Come on Mila..... give the guy a break.

Oh, and give some money to Valour IT.

Valour It and remembering.........

Hope you don't mind, and really..... well, I don't mind if you do........ so long as you contribute, and leave me a friggin' comment.... Jeebus, I alone out here?

I dedicated my part of this year's fundraiser to my Dad, the "Sar'Major", who passed a couple of weeks ago.

In later posts, I'll celebrate a Good Man's Life.....for today, I'll give you a glimpse of Him, A Marine first and foremost.... then a Husband, and a Father..... we disagreed about numerous things, but..... well, he was better armed, and 'outwardly', afraid of nothing.

This is his First Commendation...... Yup, Silver Star.......

Tis....is my Grandfather's.....on Dad's side..... another Marine. My Maternal Grandad 'Pinky', was one of the original Teufel Huenden......

A lot to live up to that no one can..... so, I'm doing this........

And....... Dad's medal case.....and some of the things that being a Marine prepared him for....... Civil Defense, Arizona Ranger....Captain thereof....

Come on, open your wallets and pull out your credit card..... it's nothing compared to the Men and Women that protect you.

EL PASO, Texas – Comrades helping out one of their own -- it also happens beyond the battlefield.

Members of the United States Army 1st Brigade 2nd Armored Division of Fort Bliss and United States Marine Corps students – who claim to be military branch rivals -- joined forces to help build a new wheelchair-accessible home for disabled veteran Cpl. Daniel Gasca and his family.

The Homes for Our Troops program, which builds adapted homes for disabled veterans, organized and financed the build.

“It’s not every day that you can help out a brother, a fellow Marine, a devil dog, but it feels good to actually have that chance today, and knowing that I’m a part of it, I can take a lot from this experience,” said Pvt. Christian Marten, a student in the U.S. Marine Corps.
