And again.......

Happy Halloween from the Lair.....

HALLOWEEN!!!!!

Dragn.....Middle School Teacher, as most of them do, dressed up for Halloween today.
She wore Milspec cammies, I painted her face in "old school" Tiger cammo, and she borrowed my Ghillie.

I thought she made quite the pretty shrub....a bit taller than the Cub did last year...but, she was disappointed she couldn't take a sidearm to complete the effect.

So, Dragn.....I decided to play dress up with your picture. Don't mess with her Folkes....she looks srs...srsly.

I am laughing my friggin' tail off here......
I am so easily amused......

Joe the Plumber is Great.........

But just take a gander at Joe the Vet....

Really....just two minutes to let you know what he thinks of the election. 11,000,000 hits already on Youtube.

I stand with Joes of all sorts. Thanks Joe.

Next up....Halloween stuff...unless I get a skeert.

If a Fellah jist Kaint git a Lady........

A few years ago...I wondered about this subject, and being a "Sunday evening Youth group" dude.....this is twenty some odd years ago, Folkes, I had been newly divorced....My choice on this one....anyways, I looked at the Bible.....the Old Testament, actually, for guidance......

Didn't want to screw it up again....although that one lasted 13 years......

And I found the following. Not saying any of these will work.......but "The Bible According to Wollf".....including translation and rewording into modern English, "might" be found amusing.

Hey, I was working with at risk kids...smokin' dope, drinkin'.....all the stuff that I had gone through....and I wanted to amuse them....keeps their interest, dontcha know.......

How to get a wife......."Old School"........

1. Find an attractive prisoner of war, bring her home, shave her head, trim her nails, and give her new clothes. Then she's yours.
-- (Deuteronomy 21:11-13)

2. Find a prostitute and marry her.
-- Hosea (Hosea 1:1-3)

3. Find a man with seven daughters, and impress him by watering his flock.
-- Moses (Exodus 2:16-21)

4. Purchase a piece of property, and get a woman as part of the deal.
-- Boaz (Ruth 4:5-10)

5. Go to a party and hide. When the women come out to dance, grab one and carry her off to be your wife.
-- Benjaminites (Judges 21:19-25)

6. Have God create a wife for you while you sleep. Note: this will cost you a rib.
-- Adam (Genesis 2:19-24)......that's how I found Dragn......still hurts when I roll over..........

7. Agree to work seven years in exchange for a woman's hand in marriage. Get tricked into marrying the wrong woman. Then work another seven years for the woman you wanted to marry in the first place. That's right. Fourteen years of toil for a woman.
-- Jacob (Genesis 29:15-30)

8. Cut off 200 foreskins off of your future father-in-law's enemies and get his daughter for a wife.
-- David (I Samuel 18:27)

9. Even if no one is out there, just wander around a bit and you'll definitely find someone. (It's all relative of course.)
-- Cain (Genesis 4:16-17)

10. Become the emperor of a huge nation and hold a beauty contest.
-- Xerxes or Ahasuerus (Esther 2:3-4)

By the way.....none of this stuff worked for me on the second one..........I didn't follow the rules probably....but this time, because of the Special and wonderful Person I'm pursuing?...........

Sure hope Mr. dragns dad needs a few foreskins......sheesh, the Arab community is going to sqwawk about this one......

Good nite.......Got stuff to do......

Well then..........

Seems as though I "may" have a new visitor or so.........and thus, I figure that it might be incumbent upon me to 'splain a few things.......

Things....or the College word, Circumstances, have changed since I started this "silly a$$ed" blog a year ago last August. "Changed"..........a LOT. If you're bored or have that voyeur thing about other lives, feel free to go back to the beginning....it wasn't pretty, but my Journey to the Goofball, Happy middle aged Man that I am, just might give a bit of inspiration........

Your choice.....not mine, I write this to keep myself sane......mostly things that just bounce around in my mind.....not for You.....but with You and Because of You, if that makes any sense.........

Enough of that......if you want more, just backtrack through time....you'll get to know ol' Wollf a lot more than you need to.

Tonight? Gosh, I could probably reel in some good Readers with a "funny" post which I attempt a lot......but I've been thinking........

Here's the Deal. Wollf, that's me, is In Love. Gents, that means The One. Period, and Done telling you about it.

Ladies......I Understand now.....it takes a little more Explanation because of your Feminine Curiosity.....heh. She.....and I mean "Dragn" as I call Her in writing, is Wonderful. Loving, with a Heart that's as big as Melissas Texas, a mind that makes my dumba$$ reel ocassionally, an ability at music....and I mean She can play ANYTHING, from flute to percussion to piano to trom-friggin'-bone, with any Band.....

And.....She happens to be Beautiful. Thank G-d she has that vision problem.......

Srsly......but the point tonight, and YES, I'm Muggle Patch free...(check the right sidebar for definitions),is that Ol' Wollf is wondering tonite about Love.

What brings it? How does it happen? Hory Clap, but what IS it? I do know one thing.

I Have It. Help me out here, and we can get me going. I hate long posts, so I'll wait to see any comments......

The rest of you, that don't want esoterical, badly written.......and NEVER edited, words and thoughts on the subject, well just skip this part....there's lots of "fun" in the back posts.....

Thank you truly for visiting.

Now I remember........

This has been all around, and I even posted it here earlier, showing that I believe in Hope also....Just not the kind that "they" do.....

I got what seemed at the time to be entirely to large a giggle out of it....but today I realised why.......Bob Hope himself say it best....

This is how I feel when I can't write.......

All kinds of "stuff" roils around in this head of mine. That's the true reason for why I write anymore. Not to please an audience, as if you couldn't guess, and not so much anymore to work through the angst of a separated Family........

You see, I have one again, or at least the closest semblance that I can imagine at this juncture....I've realised that I'm in love, and my Cubs, heck, even the She-Cub love this Lady........oh, enough of that, a certain Dragn will surely get a big head........*thank goodness she's almost legally blind....she thinks ol' Wollf is kinda cute, sheesh*

Anyway, can you tell I'm sans Muggle Patch? ADD all the way today....been about a week without, just testing the waters. It's a Lot more controllable, my attention span, that is, and I let myself out a lot more often. Here's some examples of where my mind is flying today......

You probably know that we have the Kitteh, Ransom...he got out this weekend and we frantically searched for and eventually found him. It was a tense little bit, but my wandering eyes caught sight of his movement and Peace was returned.

But what, I thought, if Ransom was an Invisible Kitteh? What would we do then? We'd have to rely on the good graces of other concerned Kitteh Citizens.......Like when I lost my invisible bike last year.......

And of course that leads to the question "What if Wollf was Invisible?" Would I look like this?

Of course that would be a difficult lifestyle, especially in a crowded restaurant...but then again, If Wollf was invisible, anything could be possible. At least I'd be safe in a world run by Zombies, because they couldn't find me....what would a Zombie town look like? Probably like any other Liberal town USA, except with a "few" differences.....

But then again, if you do find yourself in a town run by Zombies, and you happen to be a visible type of Person that Zombies are attracted too.....and say you can't find your invisible bike because no one "hasn't seen it"....you need a plan.

So, if you're going to a Zombie fight, or heck a gun fight of any kind....remember Rule #1..........

And of course if your Friends don't have any guns.....just swing by the Lair on your way.....I'm sure we can fix you up. We're all Friends here, yannow?

Silliness ended.
Have a great evening,
Wollf

Computer's been Kerflooey......

My usual Blogging instrument went kefunct.....thus I haven't been keeping up with the thoughts in this scrambled skull of mine.

Yesterday, Dragn and I went to the local Electronics mart and I purchased a brand new shiny little laptop....should have it up and running for tonight.

I'm not really a patient man when it comes to 'puters.....can't wait.

Wise Investing...put simply.......

I had heard or read this a week or so ago, and tried to express it to the Dragn....it fell flat, because I didn't remember the numbers....big surprise.

Thanks to my little baby Brother Cub Scottie for sending it to me.
The Stock Market and wise investing.........

If you had purchased $1000.00 of Nortel stock one year ago, it would now be worth $49.00.

With Enron, you would have $16.50 left of the original $1000.

With WorldCom, you would have less than $5.00 left.

If you had purchased $1000.00 of Delta Air Lines stock you would have $49.00 left.

If you had purchased United Airlines, you would have nothing left.

But, if you had purchased $1000.00 worth of beer one year ago, drank all the beer,
and then turned in the cans for recycling, you would have $214.00.
Based on the above, the best current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle.

This is called the 401-Keg Plan.

San Xavier del Bac......

The White Dove of the Desert, just outside Tucson on the Tohono O'Odham Reservation, built in 1797 by the Indians under supervision of Father Francisco Kino...what I consider to be one of the Masterpiece Missions in the chain.....

And yes, I am most definitely biased. It sits about two miles from my parents house, and I have spent many Spiritual, and not so spiritual moments on its grounds.

Back when I was in High School, it was called the Papago Reservation. The Folkes, it seems about the time the Casino got going, shed themselves of the White Man moniker and embraced their original Tribal name.....Tohono O'Odham...."People of the Desert".

Their artistry is amazing, and I hope you enjoy these few pictures that I share.....

Just outside the entrance, Wollf, Dragn and Wolfie the Younger.....

Then a few of the almost completely restored interior......

By the way? In this case, all that glitters IS gold.....

I simply love the place....a whole lot of memories...actually all good

Some better than others....interactions and Friendships, adventures...oh yes, and the occasional misdeeds I've written of before at AN OLDER POST
So there you have that little tidbit. Life was pretty wonderful growing up in the desert....life is Great going back to visit.....

Folkes, you truly can go Home when you want....don't look at the changes, so much as enjoy the memory. You can't get it back, but you can enjoy the warmth of the memories of youth, and fun and folly and Friends.....

Wollf

An aside, before we get started.....

We went to Tombstone for Helldorado, an annual celebration of the days and weeks leading up to the notorious Gunfight at the OK Corral. I'm going at this report of the trip a bit bass-ackwards, but in looking at my photos.....I was taken aback by one in particular that you may see below......

The last item on the agenda for me and those in my company is a visit to Boot Hill Cemetery on the way out of town.........

Boothill has become the "Trip Photo" spot every year for whomever accompanies the hard core group, ie: me and mine. Well, it was time to cut out, so the Cubs, Dragn and Wollf went on in, looked around a bit and set about getting our picture taken under the tree we always use.

Bigger thought it would be a nice idea to take a "Missing Comrade" picture in honor of his big Sister Heather. She used to do everything in her power to go and spend time with the Cubs and me.......

Well.....We humored the Cub, because we thought it showed the respect that he felt, and the way that he missed Her not being a part of our lives anymore. We set up, arm in arm with room in between Dragn and Wolfie the Younger.

This is the unretouched photo that is in the camera. No where else in the whole bunch of photos did that "Glow" appear. After he snapped it, Elder Wolf proclaimed that it was Perfect.....that he actually felt "something"......I did too, just a slight shiver in the desert heat.....You judge....see anything?

Wollf is a pretty Spiritual Man, with an open mind that spreads far beyond my "basic" belief system. Boot Hill is reputed to be one of the most haunted places on earth.....night time there can be quite interesting, I know from experience.

Was that my Cubette? Was it one of the myriad of Ghost sightings made at Boot Hill? I don't know, but besides putting a cold shiver up my spine.....it makes me feel oddly warm. Like maybe I've had an experience to tell me She's OK....

More in a bit...less spooky. By the way, you might check out a site that's dedicated to sightings in Tombstone at
Tombstone Ghosts A lot of these Orb things and odd light and even some forms and faces......Don't think I'll do a camp out, but it's darned interesting.

Oops...UPDATE.....found one more photo with a "Spirit Orb" in it...heh. Spooky place, that Boot Hill...

PS: I know at least one special Person out there who is going to get a shiver out of this......
Love you,
Wollf

Same Sunday.....Tuckered Wollf....

Way....Tuckered...Wollf.....

Wow....maybe I'm getting a bit old for these trips.....1200 or so miles driving, Helldorado in Tombstone, two visits with the Sar'Major and Momma, visit with number two Sis Carla, visit with Lil Baby Brother and his loverly, a beer or two with my Best old ex-friend....an inside joke, a swing by the most Beautiful Catholic Mission in all of creation....and I'm not kidding, the tension of "checking" on how my Parents are doing at 87 years in the home I grew up in, trying my best to keep the Cubs engaged, having fun, learning and not killing each other....all in three short days......

Could not have asked for a better time.......and lotsa stories, mostly good time ones, a bit of angst 'bout the Folks....and I promise they're coming up....with pics...holy smokes, I have some pics.

Wolfie the Younger and Bigger were in Fine and Frivolous Form. Dragn.....bouncing between Den Mother, Gunnery Sergeant and Silliness, was a joy to behold. She was well received.....aww heck, I'll tell you all about everything in the coming days...it was a Hoot.

*real writers call that "foreshadowing" and setting the "hook"*

Yeah right.

Had some unexpected visitors last night.....

I had gotten off the freeway on the way home to the Lair, wound through the neighborhood, and as I was driving by the local Extended Stay Motel, I noticed a few more vehicles in the parking lot than usual.....

You've all probably heard that General Santana....the long dead murderer of Texans, has awakened from his slumber in Hell for his yearly visit to his old stomping grounds of California.

Yup, the Santa Ana winds are back and bringing the Generalissimos' fiery revenge with them. I guess we have to deal with it. The Army we use nowadays to control his flaming imperialism is a bit more uniform than the Texas Irregulars that did it the first time.

But, they're every bit a valiant as Davy and Sam and Jim, et al......

The fires start, the call to defense is cried, and They come. To risk their lives for us. From all over.....big cites, small towns, paid and volunteer alike. That's why I'll always love this Country, and also, by the way, the reason why it is not a "healthy" choice for anyone to disparage Firefighters in Wollfs presence.

Check it out.....there were many more.

Thank you to all those who defend and serve, whether it be with a gun or a fire hose, a bloodhound or a shovel.

Oh......and "Joe the Plumber" from mention in the debate last night? You the Man. *A forearm to the forehead would have been nice, but I respect you playing fair*

Another reason to watch TV.....

When I allowed TV in my house....those "married" days...there were a few shows that caught my Fancy.....and an elusive, ADD Fancy it is....24, House and for a while Lost.

Did you ever see the unedited version of the season finale last year? Now I understand why editing the final film is so important in putting out exactly what the Director wanted for effect.

Make sure you have enough volume to hear the dialogue......

Kim Jong Il......visits the troops.....

North Koreas "Supreme Leader" visited his troops yesterday, looking surprisingly fit for a "Dead Despot Dictator", as was rumored. He has been markedly missing from any and all meetings and rallies as of late, fueling the Intelligence reports of his more than timely demise.

Thanks, FOX NEWS for this picture....

But, yannow what can be done with photo-shop.......I'm thinking that if he really did roll out for the troops, that the original, unretouched photos probably looked a little more like......

As an aside, anybodies who might have accidently dropped in here from a certain KisP site? Do you notice a Striking resemblance to one Annoyed White Male?.....hmmmm

And on the serious, as opposed to srsly side.....

Useless knowledge fils my brain..........

Some really surprising an interesting facts that I came across recently. Some of them might be slightly exaggerated but hey, they are still damn interesting.

1. A rat can last longer without water than a camel.

2. Your stomach has to produce a new layer of mucus every two weeks or it will digest itself.

3. The dot over the letter "i" is called a tittle.

4. A raisin dropped in a glass of fresh champagne will bounce up and down continuously from the bottom of the glass to the top.

5. A female ferret will die if it goes into heat and cannot find a mate.

6. A duck's quack doesn't echo. No one knows why.

7. A 2 X 4 is really 1-1/2&Prime by 3-1/2&Prime.

8. During the chariot scene in "Ben Hur," a small red car can be seen in the distance (and Heston's wearing a watch).

9. On average, 12 newborns will be given to the wrong parents daily! (That explains a few mysteries… .)

10. Donald Duck comics were banned from Finland because he doesn't wear pants.

11. Because metal was scarce, the Oscars given out during World War II were made of wood.

12. The number of possible ways of playing the first four moves per side in a game of chess is 318,979,564, 000.

13. There are no words in the dictionary that rhyme with orange, purple and silver.

14. The name Wendy was made up for the book Peter Pan. There was never a recorded Wendy before.

15. The very first bomb dropped by the Allies on Berlin in World War II killed the only elephant in the Berlin Zoo.

16. If one places a tiny amount of liquor on a scorpion, it will instantly go mad and sting itself to death. (Who was the sadist who discovered this??)

17. Bruce Lee was so fast that they actually had to s-l-o-w film down so you could see his moves. That's the opposite of the norm.

18. The first CD pressed in the US was Bruce Springsteen' s "Born in the USA." And he's also still a *dick*.

19. The original name for butterfly was flutterby. And by G-d I still call 'em that....and snattlerakes too, but that's just Wollf.

20. The phrase "rule of thumb" is derived from an old English law which stated that you couldn't beat your wife with anything wider than your thumb.

21. The first product Motorola started to develop was a record player for automobiles. At that time, the most known player on the market was Victrola, so the called themselves Motorola.

22. Roses may be red, but violets are indeed violet. Like all the time, and what do I care since I'm colr blind anyways?

23. By raising your legs slowly and lying on your back, you cannot sink into quicksand.Although I've never tried it.....

24. Celery has negative calories. It takes more calories to eat a piece of celery than the celery has in it to begin with. But then who really cares? Celery is only good in Bloody Marys and with Buffalo wings anyways...

25. Charlie Chaplin once won third prize in a Charlie Chaplin look-alike
contest.How embarassing is that?

26. Chewing gum while peeling onions will keep you from crying.

27. Sherlock Holmes NEVER said, "Elementary, my dear Watson." Altough he should have.....

28. An old law in Bellingham, Washington, made it illegal for a woman to take more than three steps backwards while dancing! Which makes all the world of sense to me....

29. The glue on Israeli postage is certified kosher. I mean hy....you're gonna lick the stamp, right?

30. The Guinness Book of Records holds the record for being the book most often stolen from public libraries......I just think that's funny

31. Astronauts are not allowed to eat beans before they go into space because passing wind in a spacesuit damages them. Besides, the other Astronauts really don't care for it....

32. Bats always turn left when exiting a cave........Must be NASCAR fans, eh DW?

*Ducks, hides tail from inevitable stomp*

Therem my pretties...now my brain is clear, and you have to deal with it. My Grandfather always said that the amount of knowledge stored in the human brain was a finite thing. When it finally fills up....you fall over dead.....

This post may have just cost you about three minutes of your life. Sorry, but look at it this way....it's the last three minutes of your life.

How fun can those be anyway?
Huh?

So, I said to myself, "Self", "What would catch a motorists eye and make him or her want to drive like a Law Abiding Citizen?"

That we as Americans, no matter what our "Party Choice" is, are the greatest group of Peoples on this planet.

Something is afoot, Watson......

All right already.....as you may have noticed a few posts back, the Kitteh and Uber Dog have a "relationship".....and I'm pretty sure that Ransom the Kitteh is the mastermind.

I trotted out to the kitchen for a beer the other night and found this rather darning evidence of a crime underway.

That, for the unitiated, is my Beta tank, home to Bob the Siamese Fighting Fish. It also seems to be a certain Kitteh with head and tongue searching for.......sushi?

I questioned him on the subject and received this look, as if to say, "Youse didn't see nuthin..."

Nothing to see here, move along Citizen......"

He may well be an evil genius, that Kitteh. Won't surprise me a bit to find his evil plan engaged with a little help from ACME.

But, he doesn't realise the resources of Wollf. I shall call upon the "Newbury Park Gang of Silly People with Hair done up Like Sumos". They take Sushi Snatching in their 'Hood very personally, if you get my drift.......

Kitteh doesn't stand a chance against them....Bwa ha ha....

That is, if they can "find" him. I understand that Kitteh is a Master of Disguise....

obviosly in a funny mood.

Fire in the Night.........

With thanks ....and a bit of regret....to Rose at Watchpaul. I am so sick of all the Politics. The Season has been too long, like a Winter that just never seems to warm up.

Next Post will be light and Fun again...but this? This is real. The associations that Barack Obama has made ....and kept, in his lifetime are telling of the quality of his Soul.............

A first hand account from a then nine year old boy, about the night that The Weather Underground attempted to kill his Family. Yup, Bill Ayers friends.....

"During the April 16 debate between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, moderator George Stephanopoulos brought up “a gentleman named William Ayers,” who “was part of the Weather Underground in the 1970s. They bombed the Pentagon, the Capitol, and other buildings. He’s never apologized for that.” Stephanopoulos then asked Obama to explain his relationship with Ayers. Obama’s answer: “The notion that somehow as a consequence of me knowing somebody who engaged in detestable acts 40 years ago, when I was eight years old, somehow reflects on me and my values, doesn’t make much sense, George.” Obama was indeed only eight in early 1970. I was only nine then, the year Ayers’s Weathermen tried to murder me." (emphasis mine)

Go and read the whole thing if you will, written by John M. Murtagh over at
City Journal

Even if I toss out the fact that I don't agree with Mr. Obamas political beliefs, his lack of experience in any sort of "Governance" as opposed to "just another warm body voting" in the Senate...I hearken back to one of Grandfathers favorite cliches...

"A Man is judged by the Company he keeps...."

There's a reason why cliches stay in the lexicon. They hold a lot of Truth.
Now....go and be Happy.........

Thanks, Rose

Teachers Dog Eats Students Homework

I kid you not. You might by this point know that my Lady Dragn is a Teacher at the Local Middle School.

She brought homework along to the Lair to grade for Monday, and left it in her pack on the dining room table, thinking it safe at that height from the inquisitive nose and vorascious puppy jaws of the Uber Dog.

She was correct to a point. Dog is much too clumsy to get to the prize. But not so, the evil mastermind Kitteh, Ransom. They work in tandem. Kitteh got into the pack, pulled out some of the more tasty looking morsels of homework, and passed them down to Uber for him to perform his magic.

End result of their mischief and teamwork is this "Man Bites Dog" story.

Dragn has to go to school tomorrow and explain to her Class that....you got it....

"Umm...errr...the Dog ate my Homework......"

I think they call this Irony.....or ironing....or sumpin' like that.
