A Day That Shall Live in Infamy.......

7 DEC 1941, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, U.S. Territory.

The Giant was finally awakened. Everybody in the News will be remembering this day through eye witness accounts, not many of those left, and historical records of the events of that day.

There will be the usual conspiracy posts and the first person reports, conversations recorded with the Leaders of both sides. Casualties, Ships sunk, Memorials to fallen Sailors, Soldiers, Marines........

Conjecture as to the mood a Country as it mobilized for full on World War.

I figured I'd just give a little something that you might not have seen. Those two Men. Imagine, or remember the film footage of the terror that was happening all around. The Japanese owned the sky and rained Hell itself down on the Harbor.

While most were trying to escape the devastation, or fire back from ground positions, these two Men did something they were trained to do.

Lieutenants Ken Taylor and George Welch responded to the Pearl Harbor attack by finding two unharmed P-40 fighters at Haleiwa Field. The two pilots shot down a total of six Japanese aircraft, and they were awarded the first Distinguished Flying Crosses of World War II.

The first. Not the only ones by any means. They did what American Fighting Men are trained to do. They took it to the Enemy, greatly outnumbered, and fought back.

I don't know if you're still with us, but your memory is rekindled for a moment here. Thank you, Ken and George.

Great post! I've seen the movie Tora! Tora! Tora! a bunch of times and these two figure prominently.
