San Xavier del Bac......

The White Dove of the Desert, just outside Tucson on the Tohono O'Odham Reservation, built in 1797 by the Indians under supervision of Father Francisco Kino...what I consider to be one of the Masterpiece Missions in the chain.....

And yes, I am most definitely biased. It sits about two miles from my parents house, and I have spent many Spiritual, and not so spiritual moments on its grounds.

Back when I was in High School, it was called the Papago Reservation. The Folkes, it seems about the time the Casino got going, shed themselves of the White Man moniker and embraced their original Tribal name.....Tohono O'Odham...."People of the Desert".

Their artistry is amazing, and I hope you enjoy these few pictures that I share.....

Just outside the entrance, Wollf, Dragn and Wolfie the Younger.....

Then a few of the almost completely restored interior......

By the way? In this case, all that glitters IS gold.....

I simply love the place....a whole lot of memories...actually all good

Some better than others....interactions and Friendships, adventures...oh yes, and the occasional misdeeds I've written of before at AN OLDER POST
So there you have that little tidbit. Life was pretty wonderful growing up in the desert....life is Great going back to visit.....

Folkes, you truly can go Home when you want....don't look at the changes, so much as enjoy the memory. You can't get it back, but you can enjoy the warmth of the memories of youth, and fun and folly and Friends.....

I picked up a bit of wisdom on the island of Nevis a couple of years ago: "Don't cry that it's over. Smile that it happened".

Works with all kinds of happy memories.
