I can't even begin to imagine the 'all encompassing' feeling he mentions.

You've been through a lot, wollf.Rosehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14023852057418281003noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1393866247037231950.post-76008818726897781312008-04-13T22:03:00.000-07:002008-04-13T22:03:00.000-07:00"We are living every parent's worst nightmare."......"We are living every parent's worst nightmare.
"...I cannot address anyone else's pain & suffering. I can tell you that my emotions have never been so assaulted, that my pain has never been so all encompassing, that I have never experienced so extensive a void & I never realized that nights are so long.
"(My son) is in my thoughts every day. The wound is open & raw. Since (he) was killed, every interaction with another human being is framed in the context of (his) death. The topic, the sadness, the condolences permeate every conversation..."
These are the heart- & gut-wrenching words of a distraught father published in our local newspaper just yesterday. They were excerpted from a letter read at the sentencing of the young man, a meth user who fled the scene after he hit & killed this man's 24-year-old son with his car alongside Hwy. 101 two weeks before Christmas last year. I do not know any of the people involved but I wept when I read this man's poignant words.
The story is a horrifying & sickening reminder that, as the father above also wrote, "...life is at the same time precious & fragile & there are no guarantees, regardless of what a parent may do or wish for our children." We, the parents who somehow think we are always supposed to & who want so very much to, cannot protect our children & keep them safe from themselves or harm no matter what we do. No matter what we do!
Nor do we always know how to respond to parents who have suffered the death of a child because we cannot imagine anything bigger or worse than having a child die before their time & before us. We also know that there, but for the grace of G-d, go us.
I am also very touched by your words, Wollf. I hope this father will eventually find the acceptance & peace you seem to have found.
Wishing always continued good living for you,
R.Robin Shelleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15282504761189889311noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1393866247037231950.post-9400319641401304612008-04-13T21:05:00.000-07:002008-04-13T21:05:00.000-07:00Yeah.Sadly-sweet.Yeah.

Sadly-sweet.Foxfierhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10161683096247890834noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1393866247037231950.post-67916450716912693652008-04-13T20:25:00.000-07:002008-04-13T20:25:00.000-07:00Hey...ain't a bad thing by any means....just think...Hey...ain't a bad thing by any means....just thinkin', yannow?

But thanks.Wollf Howlsatmoonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13326431237011861478noreply@blogger.com
